NHS Announcements

11/12/2020
Reminder to students and parents, an email was sent to parents of all NHS students asking for information regarding semester 2 learning options. Parents/guardians of all NHS students should go to https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=68ReW9OGoUamXhCXKZYgKNpCmDhiS7xJrftuMfsm6rtUMDBFUVcxSFU4TlNSUUxPTkhaTzRCMkNGWS4u and complete the form, indicating their preference of in-person learning or Long-Term Remote learning for semester 2. Long-Term Remote learning is intended for only students/families dealing with legitimate COVID related concerns. Not all requests for LTR learning will result in online learning.

As winter weather becomes a possibility, NHS we be working under old eLearning protocols until further notice. Assignments will be uploaded to Schoology by 9:00am and teachers will be available via Teams/email/phone from 9:00am to 3:30pm. Student will need to have assignments completed by their deadline times in order to be counted as present for these days – attendance will be taken this year.

Due to an upcoming executive order by Governor Holcomb, we are expecting changes to our fan attendance policies at events. More info to be released ASAP.

Reminder to students and staff, we will be holding a safety drill later this morning. Please listen for an announcement over the PA and follow directions, accordingly.

Tomorrow is Veteran's Day, but due to the uptick in COVID-19 we will NOT be having a convocation.  We will be on a regular Wednesday Roundtable schedule.

Good luck to our girls freshmen basketball team as they travel to Leo later this evening.

Students and parents, an email will be sent out later this week regarding semester 2 learning opportunities (in-person / long-term remote). Please be on the lookout for this email and survey as information from all NHS students will needed. Long-term remote learning is intended for medically fragile students or students living with medically fragile family members and may not be as widely available during second semester as it was during semester 1.

Attention CTE/Area 18 students who attend classes at Bellmont High School… Bellmont WILL be in session today and they will be following their regular schedule. Please plan on attending all Area 18 classes held at Bellmont High School each day this week unless you hear otherwise.

As we work through the next 13 school days that lead up to Thanksgiving break, our goal is to get something OUT of these 13 days, not to just get THROUGH them. Students, please continue to work with your teachers on navigating COVID related circumstances that make our current reality slightly more cumbersome that we’d like it to be (virtual learning, cleaning protocols, sitting in assigned seats, patience with the taking and submission of daily attendance) and continue to wear your masks any time you are in the building.

Congratulations to our football coaches and players on a fantastic season! Friday’s game at Concordia might not have turned out the way you wanted or expected, but it was a GREAT season – one that fully aligns with our goals of positive influence, high levels of achievement, and outstanding culture. Job well done, gentlemen!

Reminder to staff and students, we will be holding an active shooter drill tomorrow during the school day. This will NOT be a live drill but rather a talk-through drill. Please cooperate fully with your teachers tomorrow, asking any relevant questions you might have concerning the drill.

As we move into the winter sports season, students are reminded that masks for Norwell students are mandatory any time you are in the building, regardless of where you sit or whom you sit with. As COVID numbers continue to spike across the state and region, our goals remain to stay in school and to keep our extra and co-curricular activities going. Per current protocols, students interested in attending home sporting events should stop by the athletic office for ticket information as tickets will not be available at the door (nor will passes be honored without ticket vouchers at this time). Good luck to all of our winter sports teams as you begin your seasons!
