9/18/2020

Reminder to students and parents, an email was sent yesterday to parents with information about this year’s fall student-parent-teacher conferences. Conferences will take place on Wednesday, October 14 and Wednesday, October 28 from 3:30-7:30pm each evening. Due to our current COVID protocols, conferences will take place virtually or by phone. We’re asking that any parent who would like to arrange a conference contact those teachers they would like to meet with. Teachers will send Teams meeting invitations to their students. Congratulations to our girls soccer team on the victory over South Adams last night. (No tennis scores available).
 
Good luck to our varsity football team as they host New Haven in a big conference contest tonight at The Courtyard. Ticket lottery winners will be announced later today. Reminder to students, until further notice, masks must be worn while at any NHS activities.
 
Good luck tomorrow to our boys and girls cross country teams as they travel to Carmel to compete in the Riverview Health Invitational, to our girls golf team as the complete at sectional, to boys tennis (at Prairie Heights), and to JV football (at New Haven).

Students interested in participating on the NHS robotics teams should stop by the main office for information. 
 
Congratulations to our girls golf team on their win last night. Congratulations also to our boys and girls soccer teams on the losses yesterday and the day before. Each team lost to a top-5/state ranked team and both games were extremely competitive. Aspiring for High Levels of Achievement doesn’t mean winning all of the time, but when done correctly – in the pursuit of excellence, with the intent of reaching our individual and collective potential, with an understanding of how hard we must work, and a strong commitment to our teammates – whether it’s on the playing field or in the classroom, we usually end up having a pretty good chance of meeting our goals and achieving at a high level.

Reminder to onsite students and staff, ASVAB testing will take place this morning. Please pay attention to the time during your first few periods as the bells will be turned off until later today. There will also be no announcements for RoundTable club meetings this morning. Teachers, please communicate club meeting locations to students this morning prior to RoundTable.

Reminder to students who have received information about the ASVAB test, testing will take place tomorrow morning. Please review the information emailed to you from Mrs. Orellana. The ASVAB in an important element of the new graduation pathways model. If you were sent an email about the test, please look into things, talking to your counselor today if you have any questions.

Congratulations students and staff on making it to week number 6! Please continue to follow our COVID related protocols and procedures. Things have been going very well to this point, but we don’t want to put our guards down. Please continue to self-screen your own health, communicating with our nursing staff if you or someone your live with experience COVID related symptoms, paying special attention to fevers and the loss of taste or smell.
 
Thanks to a grant from USDA and the CARES Act, there will be no charge for student meals regardless of income, starting today. We anticipate having this funding through the month of December. This grant does not cover ala carte items

Congratulations to our cross country teams on their performance over the weekend at the Wildcat Invitational. Our girls teams finished 5th and our boys finished 7th out of 23 teams. Congratulations also to our varsity football team on their 45-0 win over Bellmont last Friday.

Congratulations students and staff on making it to the end of week 5! Please continue to take things seriously when it comes to COVID protocols, including self-screening, mask wearing, hand washing and sanitizing, and social distancing. As we have done since our first day, we continue to take things day by day. You help and cooperation is appreciated.

Congratulations to our volleyball team on their win over Blackford last night. Boys tennis lost in a very close match against Bellmont and girls golf split in their three-way match last night, losing to Heritage but beating Bluffton.
 
Good luck to our varsity football team as they travel to Bellmont for their second NE8 contest of the season. Reminder, students and staff, their will be no tickets available at the gate.

Reminder to student drivers, please use only the south drive (the drive closest to the tennis courts) when arriving and leaving campus. Do NOT use the north drive at the end of the day as that exit is reserved for busses only.

Congratulations to our boys tennis team on their win over Manchester last night. Congratulations to boys soccer on their 3-0 win over New Haven. And congratulations to our volleyball team on their victory over Southern Wells.

Varsity football will travel to Bellmont tomorrow night for their second conference game of the season. There will be NO tickets available to the general public and NO student permitted at the game. Check with the athletic department if you have questions.  
 
Reminder to students who drive to school – please make sure you are using the south drive upon arrival and when you exit the building each day – the south drive is the drive closest to the tennis courts. Please do NOT use the north drive, especially after school. The north drive is reserved for busses only.

There will be no RoundTable today as we are on a 2-hour delay schedule. Students, be sure to please look over the 2-hour delay schedule.

Reminder to a student drivers, please make sure you are using the exit near the tennis courts when you leave each day. Student drivers are not to use the north exit (bus exit) after school. 

 

Students who get dropped off or picked before or after school are to use door 36 (pool doors). Please do not use door #1.

Welcome back from the long weekend and congratulations on making it to week five! As some schools across the state close or modify their schedules due to COVID-19 related concerns, let’s continue to stay the course when it comes to following the protocols we have in place – including self-screening, mask wearing, handwashing/sanitizing, social distancing, and other common sense actions at school and school events.

 

Beyond the great job everyone has done with COVID, the cooperation and commitment demonstrated in the classrooms has been outstanding as well! Students, continue to reach out for assistance if and when it’s needed – talk to teachers, counselors, administrators or anyone who might serve as a positive influence in helping with whatever problems or concerns you might have.
