School Board of Trustees

Angie Topp

Angie Topp, President:  Angie currently serves as Board President. She is the wife of Dean (Chip) Topp, and the mother of Alivia, 2015 graduate of NHS, Marianna, 2020 graduate of NHS, and Gavin, 10th grader at NHS. Angie is a lifetime resident of Wells County and represents Lancaster Township. She has spent most of her career in mortgage lending and is currently the Sales Manager and Sr. Loan Officer at American Mortgage in Bluffton. Angie is a member of the Apostolic Christian Church and on the board of FAM Ministries. Angie shares, “I am thankful for the opportunity to serve on the NWCS Board and to represent Lancaster Township.”

 
 
Corey Krug

Corey Krug, Vice-President:  Corey grew up in metro Detroit, MI and graduated from Southfield Christian High School in Southfield, MI. He went on to attend Hillsdale College on a baseball scholarship and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2006. While at Hillsdale, he met his wife Cylie (Hoopingarner) Krug, which is how he came to Bluffton, IN. They have three children Ella, Palmer, and Kennedy. Corey works as a Director - Investment Sales, covering MI, OH, and IN for Berkadia Commericial. He spends his downtime coaching their children's althletic teams and always enjoying quality time with family and friends.


Karen Harris
Karen Harris, Secretary: Karen has been an active member of the Northern Wells Community for over 30 years. She and her husband Chuck have been married for 36 years, and have 4 children, Nole, Nikki, Adam, and Aaron, and 6 grandchildren.  The Harris children are all Norwell graduates. Karen earned her Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from Bethel College in Mishawaka Indiana and a Masters Degree from Indiana University. Karen comes to the board with 32 years of teaching experience. She taught at Fort Wayne Christian School after graduation and then went on to serve as a teacher at Ossian Elementary for 27 years. She retired from Ossian in 2015 and has continued to substitute and volunteer in the schools. Karen is a member of Hope Missionary Church where she sings on the worship team, teaches Wednesday night children activities and volunteers where there is a need. She is excited for the opportunity to serve on the board. She believes that her knowledge and expertise of educational needs can bring new insights to the board.
 

Gene Donaghy, MemberGene has served on the board since 1997; as member; president; vice-president; and secretary treasurer. He is a 1973 Norwell graduate and a 1977 undergrad of Purdue.  He is retired after 38 years with I&M and Northeastern REMC.  He is married to Marla (1974 Norwell graduate) and they have 4 daughters and 8 grandchildren.  Sarah is a teacher at LES, Renee is a teacher in SWACS, Trisha is an executive assistant at Premier Truck Rental, and Allee is COO at the WorXout.  Gene is Currently serving on the Northeast Indiana Regional Development Authority - president; the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership Board - adviser; the Northeast Indiana Foundation  Board - honorary board member; Northeast Indiana Regional Coordinating Council - Governor’s representative; the Wells County Economic Development Council - member; and Wells County Chamber Education Committee- memberThey attend the Markle Church of Christ. Doing what is in the best interest of the students and the community is his commitment to NWCS.

 

Chad Kline

Chad Kline, Member:  Chad grew up in DeKalb County, graduating from DeKalb High School in Waterloo before moving to Kendallville for a career in journalism with KPC Media Group. He later earned a degree from Ball State University in Business Administration after a career in law enforcement communications. Chad previously held an elected position as a County Commissioner in Noble County prior to his move to Wells County. He currently is the executive director for Wells County Economic Development, working to create business investment opportunities for the communities in Wells County. He is married to Janessey Kline, a native of Terre Haute, and currently reside in the Markle community. They enjoy traveling, kayaking, and spending time with family.  


 

NWCS Fiscal Indicators Report

SEA 549-2019: Requires the superintendent of a school corporation to submit a written report to the local board of finance for the school corporation. Provides that the report must assess the financial condition of the school corporation using certain fiscal and qualitative indicators. Provides that the report must be received and reviewed at the annual meeting of the local board of finance for the school corporation. NWCS monitors school finances in real-time. However, the requirements of the law and the information provided by the State will always keep this report one full year in arrears. Please contact the Superintendent's office if you have any questions.

Unless otherwise announced, NWCS School Board meetings are held at 5:30 p.m. on the second (2nd) and fourth (4th) Tuesdays of the month.  March, July, & December are exceptions due to vacation breaks.  You are welcome to call our central office at 260.622.4125 to confirm the date and time of our next School Board meeting.  The meetings are held in our Central Office at 312 North Jefferson Street, Ossian or at one of our schools.
