Student Council members determined that building a respectful environment is key to feeling safe and enjoying our time at school. After brainstorming ideas, members used an Interrelationship Digraph to study the cause and effect relationship between factors that impede positive relationships at school. The outcome showed that past conflicts among students was the priority cause of disrespectful behavior. Student data indicated that many students at OES feel that they have strategies for dealing with past conflicts with peers, so our focus is on strengthening that knowledge and providing visual reminders of steps to successful conflict resolution. We are in the process of putting together bulletin boards in key traffic areas.
