Ahead of the Curb Driving Academy: Driver's Education
Norwell High School has partnered with Ahead of the Curb Driving Academy to offer driver’s education. Their website is linked here: Ahead of the Curb Driving Academy – Driver's Education. The classroom portion will be offered online or in person in Decatur. The driving portion can be completed at NHS.
Ahead of the Curb Driving Academy is committed to providing high quality driver’s education. Their instructors have a wealth of experience and are very patient during the lessons. Their office is located just south of Fort Wayne in Decatur, but they have instructors who drive in Decatur, Bluffton, Heritage Jr/Sr High School, and Norwell High School. They serve students from Adams, Allen, Huntington, and Wells County schools. They can help you navigate your way to your driver’s license.
Driver's education is made up of two parts, classroom and driving instruction.
Classroom Component: The classroom component consists of thirty hours of classroom instruction in a traditional classroom setting. The thirty hours of instruction is broken down into ten 3-hour classes. Attendance is mandatory and if a student needs to miss he or she will have to make up the missed class in our next session.
If your schedule won't allow you to make the ten classes, the online course might be your best option. You will still spend thirty hours working on the course but you can do it on your own schedule (up to three hours in a day).
Driving Component: The driving component consists of six hours of behind-the-wheel instruction with one of our certified instructors. The driving schedule is very flexible and they let you pick the days, times, and instructor(s) that you drive with. You can drive up to 2-hours per day and three drives or 4-hours in a week with an instructor.
