Dear seniors and senior parents/guardians,
Based on the information communicated by Governor Holcomb last Friday, we are officially moving the date of our graduation ceremony from Sunday, June 7 to Sunday, July 19 (1:30pm). Graduation practice will be held on Saturday, July 18 at 10:00am in the NHS auditorium – all seniors who wish to participate in the July 19 ceremony will need to attend the practice event. Caps and gowns will be distributed during graduation practice and a luncheon for seniors will be held immediately after our practice ceremony.
From the beginning, our goal has been to honor the wishes of our graduating seniors by holding an in-person ceremony. Every effort will be made to hold an unrestricted ceremony, but the health and safety of our students, staff members, and ceremony attendees will continue to be the priority. It is possible that social distancing protocols or other health related stipulations, such as limited seating, may be required. The decision as to whether we will stick with our July 19 date or devise a “Plan C”, will be based on Governor Holcomb’s future social distancing orders as well as guidance from our local health department. A final decision regarding the July 19 date will be made and communicated come mid to late June.
Unfortunately, we regret that the July 19 date may not work for some students/families. There were scheduling conflicts on every back-up date considered, July 19 being the least problematic option.
Thank you for your patience and trust in this difficult time. Please know that much thought and consideration have been, and will continue to be, put into our decisions.
