Norwell Community Schools is submitting an application to the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) for Ed-Flex Waiver #2, which allows for increased flexibility in meeting paraprofessional (teaching assistant) requirements. This waiver provides school districts the opportunity to meet staffing needs while continuing to prioritize student learning and achievement.
By applying for the Ed-Flex Waiver #2, Norwell Community Schools will be able to hire qualified individuals as teaching assistants even if they have not yet met all federal paraprofessional certification requirements--provided they receive appropriate and applicable training and are closely supervised by certified staff. This flexibility is essential to ensure staffing of these positions and continued support for our students are met.
