Senior Makayla Young has been selected to receive the Norwell High School Internship Spotlight award. She did her first semester experience at Lutheran Hospital while this semester she is working at The Buckle clothing store at Jefferson Point. Makayla is the daughter of Kris and Misty Young.
At Lutheran Hospital, Makayla was in the Intensive Care Unit with mentor Melissa Heindel. She got to observe the Medical Surgery ICU where she watched procedures such as brain drains, the CT X-ray process, and the ECMO life support system which monitors heart and lung failure. As a sales associate at The Buckle, Makayla handles customer service, organizes merchandise, and performs housekeeping duties. Her mentor at The Buckle is Skylynn Lowe.
Upon graduation, Makayla will attend Marian University Ancilla, near Plymouth, Indiana. There she will study nursing and play softball.
